It was Charles and Emile Reutlinger who took the early risqué photographs of performers in "bodysuits"

Here are some examples of "bodysuit" nudes.

The introduction of the bodysuite nudes  became a great succes because the "real nude" stuff was not available to the large public.

Other French photographers took over the idea and the first public and authorized photographical nudes where born !

Emile Reutlinger's most well known publication was the infamous

 “Le Panorama bathing beauties”,

which he made in 1896.

"Melancholie"

Nos Jolies Baigneuses"  Edition F. Nugeron

Emile had one son, Leopold.  He was born on March 17, 1863 and was raised in Callao, Peru.

In 1883, after only three years running the studio, Emile asked his son Leopold to come to Paris to begin working with him in the family photography business, which he did immediately.
